For most of us, the start of 2021 marked a turning point in the fight against coronavirus, with vaccination programmes beginning in countries worldwide. Showing that when scientists, governments, industry and communities work together innovative new treatments can be developed in record breaking times.
Spring 2021 also marked the 40th anniversary of the identification of another virus. However for this virus there would be no coordinated government and pharmaceutical industry response with impacted communities left to fend largely for themselves.
Since 1981, more than 36 million people have died worldwide from HIV/AIDS, an epidemic for which there continues to be no vaccine or cure.
Thankfully we now have the ability to beat the virus for good: stopping transmission of the virus, and treatment enabling those living with it to lead full healthy lives. So on 17 October, I will be running the Paris Marathon in support of Aidsfonds.

Back in March 2020, I was wrapping up training for the Paris Marathon which was scheduled for April that year. When we went home from the office 'for two weeks', few of us could have imagined how the last 18 months would unfold.
It's been a long time coming but finally race day is almost here so please donate what you can, and help support work to end HIV/AIDS for good.
