The humanitarian crisis in my country Venezuela has knocked on my door.
My name is Gisela Flores, single mother of two adorable children, one of them with special needs. I am a breast cancer survivor which I fought in 2009.
Two months ago I received the sad news that the cancer had returned to my body, but this time in the womb. It has affected other organs such as the ovaries, colon and a kidney.
On January 27 of this year I was taken urgently to the operating room to undergo an Exploratory Laparotomy to know the magnitude of my condition. It was concluded that I had to receive24 rounds of chemotherapy that must be administered once a week for 6 months. We have started the first round but I will need financial support for the remaining 23.
The medications that I must receive on a weekly basis are the following:
2 Placitaxel
1 Carboplatin
Additionally, every 21 days I must be administered:
8 ampoules of Avastin
The full treatment has a total cost of $15,000 (for the 6 months of chemotherapy). But the payments must be made weekly for an amount of $625.
This treatment is very expensive and that's why I need your help to pay the $15,000 for the complete chemotherapy. This will help to free my body of cancer so that I can receive the surgery that will extract the rest of the tumor.
