Dearest friends and family,
In May, June and July I will be volunteering at Kolewa Foundation in Denpasar, Bali.
The Kolewa Foundation is an ANBI and CBF recognized charity and focuses on children and families who live in the most isolated areas of Indonesia, where other foundations do not or barely come. A lot of families live in extreme poverty and can hardly take care of themselves. Right medical supplies are lacking as well as knowledge about hygiene, health, healthy food, birth control and more.
The goal of the Kolewa Foundation is to give children, that cannot participate in the community because of physical inabilities, a chance on a reasonable place in their society.
Children born with a handicap do not get the care they need, with often disastrous consequences. Some children have severe deformities because of not treating burns wounds, others cannot eat because of cleft-lip and palate.
During my time at Kolewa I will aid in the rehabilitiation of the children post surgery and provide psychological help to the mothers of the children.
Kolewa is totally dependent on donations. With each amount you can make a difference. Donations go towards surgery, rehabilitation and transport.For each 550 euros it is possible to operate a child with a cleft lip!
