In Uganda, Brenda Bukoma and her team at the Ethical Vegan Community are working tirelessly to support local farmers – especially women – in transitioning from livestock farming to sustainable, plant-based food production. Thanks to their guidance and dedication, 40 farmers are now growing organic crops, securing their livelihoods while contributing to a healthier environment and a fairer food system.
Through practical agricultural training and access to essential materials, these farmers are building a future free from pesticides, chemical fertilizers, and genetic modification. Whenever possible, they adopt veganic farming, using compost made from plant-based materials instead of animal manure. This reduces their reliance on the powerful agro-industry and opens the door to a more livable, compassionate world.
Plenty Food supports this powerful initiative by financing a mobile unit equipped with a water pump and irrigation hoses, giving ten farmers reliable access to water during dry periods – essential for the survival of their crops.
Thanks to Plenty Food, the Ethical Vegan Community will also support ten former slaughterhouse workers in growing vegetables or selling them at the market. The Ethical Vegan Community goes beyond horticulture. By providing education on healthy eating, environmental protection, and respectful interaction with people and animals, they are building a society where well-being and harmony are paramount.
Together, we’re working on a compassionate world. Together, we’re creating a just future for people, animals, and the planet!
