The “Computer Training Centre” is located at the Agape building. This computer centre is established by the Agape Social Foundation in close co-operation with Bernard Vekemans. At the beginning second-hand computers were arranged that were donated by Dutch companies. These computers had a significant contribution to make an initial start in 2000; however they are outdated and have been replaced sequentially. The computer centre has evolved as a multi purpose computer centre. It can be used for the following competences: Microsoft Windows and Office applications as Word, Excel and Outlook;Database design and development;Graphics & Web design;Commercial courses for third parties.Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office The students will learn how to use Microsoft Windows as the operating system of a computer and how to share files across the network. After this course the succeeding stage is how to work with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook. The skills can be used for small administration purposes or professionally at small companies who are starting to use office automation. Although the need for this profession is sparse, small companies at for instance retail start to have computers for simple administrative purposes. Database Design and DevelopmentThe purpose of the database design and development course is to teach students how to setup a small scale database to collect data. A database can be used for small businesses that need to administrate for instance their clients, orders or inventory. The students will also learn how to use reporting tools to retrieve data from these databases. The database design and development course will be a combination of theory and practice based on Microsoft technology. Graphics and Web DesignGraphics are commonly used with computers to create flyers, brochures and other marketing material. Graphics can also be used in combination with web design. Therefore the students will learn how to work with graphical programs. Computers and websites are becoming more common for the Indonesian community. Since computers and the internet are accessible via small internet cafes, the internet is becoming a marketing tool for retail shops. During the course the students will learn how to design and create websites based on HTML language. Commercial coursesBased on the local demand by commercial or governmental organizations the computer room can be used for commercial purposes and private courses. The revenues made from this are used to finance maintenance and new investments. Each course can be followed by 8 students and there will be a maximum of 3 teachers available per course. The age of students can vary from 10 years to 20 years old. Depending on the age of the students each course takes about 24 lessons. Three types of courses exist: Basic course;Windows;Microsoft Office;Medium course;Microsoft Office;Graphics;Hardware;Advanced course;Microsoft OfficeDatabase;Graphics;HardwareOn a continuously basis courses are given during the year. The total costs for the Computer Training Center are estimated at approximately € 3.097 per year.
