Iedere 2 minuten sterft er een kind aan malaria, een ziekte die te voorkomen en te behandelen is.
De Nederlandse Malaria Stichting is een charitatieve organisatie die innovatieve manieren om malaria te bestrijden steunt en bestaande kennis en informatie over malariabestrijding voor belanghebbenden over de hele wereld beschikbaar maakt.
Malaria is een levensbedreigende ziekte. Het wordt veroorzaakt door een parasiet die van de ene op de andere mens wordt overgedragen door de beet van een geïnfecteerde Anopheles mug. Mensen die lijden aan malaria hebben vaak last van koorts, rillingen en griepachtige symptomen. Als malaria niet snel behandeld wordt kunnen mensen eraan dood gaan. In 2019 kregen volgens de Wereldgezondheids-organisatie minstens 229 miljoen mensen malaria waarvan er zeker 409.000 overleden zijn. De meesten van hen waren jonge kinderen in Afrika.
Bedrukte Klamboes voor Oeganda. Een van de meest effectieve manieren om een kind te beschermen tegen malaria is een muskietennet, ofwel klamboe. Als we samen zorgen dat kwetsbare kinderen een mooie klamboe krijgen dan is de kans dat zij aan malaria overlijden heel veel kleiner. Daarnaast doet een kind dat beter slaapt en minder vaak ziek is, het beter op school. In Afrika is malaria de voornaamste reden van schoolverzuim. Lees meer over dit project
Stop de handel in nep malaria medicijnen. 1/3 van alle malaria medicijnen die in Afrika verhandelt worden is nep of van onvoldoende kwaliteit. Daardoor sterven er elk jaar zo'n 116.000 mensen onnopdig; met name kinderen onder de 5 jaar. Daarom is de Nederlandse Malaria Stichting het project "Fake drugs kill" gestart: een bewustwordingscampagne over het gevaar van de handel in nep-malariamedicijnen. Lees meer over dit project

MalariaWorld is het grootste gratis informatieplatform voor malaria professionals ter wereld en houdt dagelijks meer dan 10.800 artsen en onderzoekers uit 140 landen kosteloos op de hoogte van de laatste relevante informatie over malaria. MalariaWorld Journal, gratis toegankelijk wetenschappelijk malaria tijdschrift. De Nederlandse Malaria Stichting geeft een eigen gratis toegankelijk wetenschappelijk tijdschrift uit: de MalariaWorld Journal (MWJ). MWJ is geregistreerd bij PubMed Central van de US National Library of Medicine, de grootste biomedische bibliotheek ter wereld. Hiermee maken wij het mogelijk dat iedere malariawetenschapper waar ook ter wereld zijn informatie en kennis kan delen. Zo dragen we er aan bij dat artsen en malaria onderzoekers overal ter wereld goed geïnformeerd de strijd tegen malaria aan kunnen gaan. Lees meer over dit project

Every 2 minutes a child dies of malaria, a disease that can be prevented and treated
The Dutch Malaria Foundation is a charitable organisation that supports innovative ways to fight malaria and makes existing knowledge and information about fighting malaria available to stakeholders all over the world.
Malaria is a life-threatening disease. It is caused by a parasite that is transmitted from one person to another through the bite of an infected Anopheles mosquito. People who suffer from malaria often suffer from fever, chills and flu-like symptoms. If malaria is not treated quickly, people can die from it. The WHO estimated that in 2019 at least 229 million people got sick with malaria of which at least 409,000 have died. Most of them were young children in Africa.
Printed mosquito nets for Uganda. One of the most effective ways to protect a child against malaria is to let it sleep under a mosquito net. If we work together to provide vulnerable children with a beautiful mosquito net then the chance that they will die from malaria is much smaller. In addition, a child who sleeps better and who is sick less often performs better at school. In Africa, malaria is the main reason for absenteeism from school. Read more about this project
Stop de trade in fake malaria medicines. 1/3 of all malaria medicines that are traded in Africa are fake or of insufficient quality. As a result, some 116,000 people die unnecessarily every year; especially children under the age of 5. That is why the Dutch Malaria Foundation has started the "Fake drugs kill" project: an awareness campaign about the danger of the trade in fake malaria drugs. Read more about this project

MalariaWorld Journal, open access scientific malaria journal. The Dutch Malaria Foundation publishes its own Open Access scientific journal: the MalariaWorld Journal (MWJ). MWJ is registered at PubMed Central of the US National Library of Medicine, the largest biomedical library in the world. We make it possible for every malaria scientist anywhere in the world to share information and knowledge.
