I am cycling for Villa Joep. Villa Joep is a foundation that collects money to fund international research to find a cure for children neuroblastoma. This is an aggressive form of children’s cancer, whereby – very sadly – 65-75% of the children who are diagnosed with the most severe case of neuroblastoma do not survive. Neuroblastoma is fortunately not a widespread form of cancer (In the Netherlands between 25-30 children are diagnosed every year), but the consequence of this is that funding to find a cure is a bit more tough and private initiatives like ours are needed to support the fight against this deadly form of cancer.
Villa Joep is an initiative of the parents of Joep, a little boy of 4 years who was diagnosed with Neuroblastoma and who died from this horrible disease in October 2003. Ever since they have made fighting the Neuroblastoma their mission in life and set-up Villa Joep, a platform for people like us, who are willing and able to support a great cause like this.
Please support Villa Joep by donating money for my 110 km cycling efforts during the Grand Fondo Race in Amsterdam.
