We’re raising funds to continue and grow Statelessness Essentials — our open access, globally accessible learning space on statelessness and the right to a nationality.

In 2025, we launched the inaugural Statelessness Essentials course. It reached learners around the world — from students and grassroots advocates to UN staff and those with lived experience of statelessness. It was deep, inclusive, practical, and free. We want to keep it that way.

Statelessness Essentials brings together people from across the globe to learn, reflect, and act on one of the most overlooked human rights issues of our time.

Through live classes, curated self-study, expert insights, and facilitated dialogue, this course offers practice-oriented, reflective, and accessible learning — without borders or paywalls.

We believe knowledge drives change. When people understand statelessness — its causes, impacts, and solutions — they’re better equipped to advocate, design policy, build community, and hold systems accountable.

Statelessness Essentials centres lived experience. Half of our facilitators in the inaugural programme shared direct experience of statelessness, alongside deep strategic expertise. Their leadership ensured the learning stayed grounded, relevant, and real.

We made the inaugural 2025 programme — and its learning platform — freely available, because we believe statelessness knowledge should not be a privilege.

And it’s working. The course is:

• Helping spark new advocacy and collaboration
• Reaching communities often left out of formal education
• Reframing what human rights learning can look and feel like

Now, we want to expand the content, reach new audiences, and develop new tools — while keeping the course fully open access.
