Hi friends and colleagues,
On October 21st, 2018, I will participate in the TCS Amsterdam Marathon, which will be my first time doing so. I'm reaching out to you, as my network, to help me reach a fundraising goal of 1k for my run, which means ~ 25 euro per kilometer. All funds will go to one of my most admired Dutch sustainability initiatives: The Ocean Cleanup, which strives to combat plastic pollution in our global water bodies with the deployment of innovative vessels and technological solutions.
First to hear about my running story...
As you may have heard me mention in passing conversations and around the office, this is no easy feat!
Nonetheless, I've pleasantly discovered in the past year that I enjoy long distance running (yes it is actually possible to enjoy it!)...
I have an athletic background, and was a soccer player in high school, but I always hated running since it was a form of punishment my coach inflicted on us and I never trained properly for it. I was injured multiple times: shin splints, tendon injuries, etc. That sucked!
Then, last year, I gave it a new chance. Once I did it in my own manner and pace I realized it was challenging, meditating, and satisfying all at once! In 2017 I participated in in the dam to dam loop (16km), Sloterplas loop (10km), the zevenheuvelenloop (15km), and the TCS Amsterdam half marathon (21km)
This year I shoot for the notorious 42km!
After six months of training, running during vacations, weekends, and evenings, I'm ready for the full thing!
