Primary education in rural central Somalia is severely constrained by the lack of reliable electricity. Most schools operate off-grid, limiting teaching hours and preventing the use of basic educational tools. As international development aid continues to decline, diaspora organizations such as HIRDA have stepped in to support vulnerable communities. We are launching a project to install solar energy systems in 5 rural primary schools, providing clean and reliable electricity.
This project proposes the installation of off-grid solar energy systems in five rural primary schools in Abdudwak (central somalia) to improve learning conditions, increase attendance, and enhance teaching quality. The intervention will benefit approximately 500 students and 15 teachers by providing clean, renewable electricity for classroom lighting, administrative work, and basic educational equipment.
The project duration is 12 months and total estimated budget is 15.000 Euro
