Inter Scaldis is een pipe band met Zeeuwse roots en een sterke band met Schotland: Ooit opgericht als levend monument voor onze Schotse bevrijders, zijn we nog steeds actief betrokken bij de zo belangrijke herdenkingen rond de grote wereldoorlogen. We zijn dan ook vereerd de tartan te mogen dragen van het beroemde regiment The King’s Own Scottish Borderers uit Berwick upon Tweed.
Dit jaar is een fantastische opmaat gebleken naar 2019: Het jaar dat we 35 jaar bestaan!
35 jaar pipes and drums, 35 jaar band met Schotland, 35 jaar betrokken leden, soms generaties binnen de zelfde band. Hoe fantastisch is dat!
En dan afgelopen jaar:
- Twee 1e prijzen (graad 4 March-Strathspey-Reel/MSR, graad 4 MAP-set), een 4 prijs (graad 4 MAP set) en een 3e prijs (graad 3) tijdens de trio piping competitie op de Flanders Red Cross Piping Competition in Hamme (België);
- Twee 1e prijzen (grade 4 en grade 4 MAP-set) tijdens de miniband competitie in Kerkdriel;
- Twee 1e prijzen (grade 4 en grade 4 MAP-set), 2x best drumcore (grade 4 en grade 4 MAP-set) en ook nog eens de prijs Most Promising Band tijdens de Continental Pipe Band Championships in Vijfhuizen;
- Twee 1e prijzen (piping en drumming) in Grade 4 op het Belgian Open Bagpipes Championship Alden Biesen (Bilzen);
- Een 1e prijs (grade 4)op de BAG-Open Mini Pipe Band Championships te Xanten (Duitsland)
En we willen meer, we hebben dromen, idealen , ambities… Eindelijk eens meedoen met de European Pipe band Championships! De noodzakelijke vervanging van oude uniformonderdelen en instrumenten, die eigenlijk niet meer kunnen maar waar geen budget voor is.
We werken hard en steken veel vrije tijd in het op niveau houden van onze skills. We willen graag die o zo belangrijke herinnering aan onze niet zo vanzelfsprekende vrijheid levend houden, mensen laten genieten van de verbondenheid die muziek maken geeft. Samen iets moois scheppen, voor onszelf en anderen.
En in ons jubileumjaar vooral: Laten zien waar een kleine Zeeuwse pipeband goed in kan zijn: muziek maken. In Schotland: het land dat voor iedereen eigenlijk wel symbool staat voor pipebands en doedelzakmuziek, tijdens de European Pipe Band Championships 2019 in Inverness!
Daarbij kunnen we alle hulp gebruiken! Heeft u een zwak voor doedelzakmuziek? Of drums (of bent u juist blij er een paar dagen verlost van te zijn?) Draagt u Inter Scaldis en een warm hart toe? Vindt u het eigenlijk wel een tof idee dat we als Zeeuwse pipe band de uitdaging aangaan in het land van de doedelzak? Of vindt u onze doelen als vereniging gewoon erg mooi en wilt u ons daarom steunen?

U maakt dan ook nog kans op een van onze ludieke weggevertjes (er volgen er meer, dus blijf ons volgen!)
- Escape-the-piper-arrangement: Escaperoom voor 6 personen in Middelburg (ja, dat is wat u denkt)
- 1 van de 4 flessen whisky (we zeggen nog niet welke)
- "That socks!"-dreamcatcher: Verjaag boze dromen en andere slaapkamerbewoners met een dreamcatcher, gemaakt van de sokken van onze pipe major.
- 1 van de 3 quaichs (cups of friendship) met ons bandlogo
- Doedelzakles van onze pipe major Gilbert. Vraag hem het hemd van het lijf en krijg uitleg over instrument en speeltechniek. Oordoppen bijgeleverd.
- Druminstructie door onze drum sergeant Robert: Voor iedereen die geen last heeft van RSI en niet wordt gehinderd door enig maatgevoel (of zich juist een beat-beast voelt)!*datum en locatie activiteiten in goed overleg

Inter Scaldis Pipes and Drums were established in 1984 in the city of Vlissingen (Flushing), as a living monument for our Scottish liberators. Firmly based in the province of Zeeland, we are still honouring old and new veterans in Memorial Services along the North Sea Canal coastline. We are therefore proud to wear the tartan of the famous regiment The King's Own Scottish Borderers from Berwick upon Tweed.
This year has proven to be a fantastic prelude to 2019 for our band: 2019 The year that we celebrate our 35 year anniversary!35 years of being a pipeband, 35 years of being linked with Scotland, 35 year playing with the most wonderful members, sometimes generations within the same band. How fantastic is that!
In 2018 we were grateful to achieve:
* Two 1st prizes (grade 4 March-Strathspey-Reel/MSR, grade 4 MAP-set), a 4th prize (grade 4 MAP set) and a 3rd Prize (grade 3) during the trio piping competition at the Flanders Red Cross Piping Competition in Hamme (BE));
* Two 1st prizes (grade 4 and grade 4 MAP-set) during the mini band competition in Kerkdriel (NL);
* Two 1st prizes (grade 4 and grade 4 MAP-set), 2 x best in drum core (grade 4 and grade 4 MAP-set) and also the price Most Promising Band at the Continental Championships in Vijhuizen(NL);
* A 1st prize (grade 4) on the BAG-Open Mini Pipe Band Championships Xanten (DE)
*Two 1st prizes (piping and drumming) in Grade 4 at the Belgian Open Bagpipes Championship Alden Biesen (Bilzen, BE));
But we hope for more. We have dreams, ideas, ambitions ... The long-awaited participation in the European Pipe band Championships, one of the five major competitions in the pipeband world!
But also…a necessary replacement of old uniforms and instruments, which have reached there limits, but for which we unfortunately lack the funds to do so.
Our members work hard and put a lot of their spare time in working at and improving their skills. They want to keep the memory to that hard-fought freedom alive. They want to make music and let that music be a connection between people to create something beautiful together, for ourselves and others.
And in 2019, the year of our 35th anniversary: Show the world what a small Dutch pipe band can do: Making music, with all our hearts. But this time in Scotland: at the roots of our band, during the European Pipe Band Championships 2019 in Inverness!
