Some information about me and my mission:
My name is Anton Nootenboom, also known as the barefoot Dutchman.
I have spent 10 years in the Dutch Army and went on 3 tours to Afghanistan.
I became the first and only person ever to reach base camp of Mount Everest barefoot and hold the Guinness World Record of longest barefoot hike.
3019 km along the east coast of Australia to raise awareness and funds for men's mental health.
Now I will break my own record, by walking 5000 km from LA to NYC, in the United States.
Why?
Because worldwide we lose a man to suicide every single minute.
It is the leading cause of death in a lot of countries for men.
Because men do not feel safe to speak up whenever in need.
We still believe in an old perspective, that showing emotions and vulnerability is a weakness.
The opposite is true, and I will show that.
I will show that our body and mind are way stronger than we make ourselves believe and that it has got nothing to do with being a man or a woman, but everything to do with being human.
But I can't do this by myself.
