This morning, January 23, a severe storm swept through the Cikananga area and caused a large tree to fall directly onto our Amazing Greenhouse, resulting in devastating damage.
The Greenhouse is a critical part of Cikananga’s Sustainability Farming Program. Over the past year, it produced more than 7,000 kg of healthy, nutritious food for the many rescued animals at the Cikananga Wildlife Rescue Center.
Despite our ongoing efforts to carefully maintain and manage the surrounding trees, this particular tree fall was unexpected and struck the Greenhouse directly. This facility is essential for growing young crops using regenerative and sustainable farming techniques, which allow us to produce organic, healthy food, while also supporting our education program for local farmers. Through this program, we organize workshops that help farmers adopt sustainable and resilient agriculture practices.
With the Greenhouse now unusable, a vital link in our farming process has been lost. We urgently need emergency funding to rebuild the structure so we can continue growing food for the 350+ animals living at the rescue center, as well as those in our endangered species breeding program.
If you can support us during this critical time, your help will directly enable us to restore this essential part of our sustainability work.
Thank you for supporting wildlife and conservation!
