Cycle London-Amsterdam

Child Helpline International (CHI) is organising a sponsored cycle ride from London to Amsterdam on 18-21 September 2009, to support children in need of care and protection all over the world. This long-weekend challenge links two great European cities and covers around 300km in just three days. Sounds challenging? All cyclists will be supported not only during the trip, but beforehand too. You will be provided with plenty of training exercises and a comprehensive fundraising pack full of ideas to help you to meet the challenge. During the three-day trip a tour guide, doctor and mechanic will be on hand to provide help and encouragement whenever you need it. All you need to bring along is your bike and plenty of enthusiasm! Cycle London to Amsterdam: 18-21 September 2009 This long weekend challenge from London Stansted to Amsterdam covers 300km in 3 days. Through rolling Essex countryside, a rich agricultural area filled with historic towns and villages, the route follows undulating terrain with several challenging sections all the way to Harwich. After an overnight ferry to the Hook of Holland, the next 2 days are spent on cycle paths through sand dunes, nature reserves and past many windmills. The last few kilometres are spent cycling through the narrow streets of Amsterdam criss-crossing some of its many canals en route. On the 21 September there will be a nice surprise awaiting cyclists in Amsterdam! There will also be plenty of free time to explore this beautiful city before taking the boat back to London (return trip is optional).
